Wow. I’ve stayed at dozens of Airbnbs over the years, and this was far and away the best experience of all. Aimee and Rich truly went above and beyond to make us welcome, and their place is absolutely gorgeous inside and out; the quintessential Vermont homestead. Simple elegance and warm hospitality. A great value too - especially with such a delicious breakfast. If you’re looking for a lovely Vermont B&B look no further. We will be back!
UPDATE: April 2018: My first stay at East View Farm last fall was so outstanding that I returned with my parents as part of my mom’s 70th birthday celebration. Again, Aimee, Rich, and Callum outdid themselves with amazing hospitality! This is a very special B&B experience.
We could not have asked for a better Vermont getaway. The property was absolutely stunning - a private, secluded meadow outside of the cabin with access to hiking trails steps from the cabin front door. The space was perfect for our dog as well, who could roam free and had the best time. We highly recommend this place for a getaway with your dog! You really feel like you are getting the experience of camping, but with sleeping in a house/in a bed. Rich and Aimee were incredibly warm and welcoming and made the experience special. We will certainly be back!
East View Farm is more an experience than a place to stay. For those who went to summer camp as kids, the cabin will evoke a fond sense of nostalgia. The woods about the property were very serene, and we were lucky to have seen the foliage at its peak. I felt markedly calmer and kinder after my visit, and would recommend the place to anyone who would enjoy a peaceful, introspective weekend in a picture perfect Vermont setting. 11/10, would again.
UPDATE: May 2018: This was our second visit to the cabin. We loved it so much the first time, we booked an extra day for this trip- and it was amazing! Even during the rain, we found the cabin cozy and comfortable. The field at dawn is hauntingly beautiful. The fire at night is warm and welcoming. The days between are quiet and slow- and perfect. Beautiful setting, clean, well-appointed cabin (emphasis on modest), and amazingly considerate and friendly hosts. A++ 11/10. Looking forward to our next trip up!
At first we were hesitant about booking a cabin with no electricity but we were surprised that it makes the experience so much better! Aimee and Rich were such thoughtful and warm hosts from the minute we arrived to the minute we left. The cabin is a perfectly secluded getaway from the busy city life or a quick (but needed) trip into nature! Anything you need they will supply. The hosts are thoughtful enough to give you a tour of their beautiful historic house and the amenities that are open to the guests such as Aimee’s beautiful yoga studio. We will definitely be staying here again...
UPDATE, Oct. 2018: This was the second time we stayed at Aimee's cabin, and it was even better than the first time!!! The weather was colder and rainier but they prepared for this by putting a space heater into the cabin, which was so thoughtful. The views were incredible. Perfect get away from busy city life. The cabin was clean and they accommodated any need we had. Their hospitality made us feel welcomed and thankful. We will def be back for a 3rd year!
Where to begin with Rich and Aimee! First and foremost, they are incredible hosts, from the communication to the outstanding warmth and friendliness, and the openness to share their lives and home with us. Their home is a beautiful experience of its own, with personality that is a mixture of the history of the structure to the pieces that Rich and Aimee have collected to make it feel like a special and interesting place. Aimee kindly guided a yoga session for us, which was a lovely experience, peaceful and relaxing. Rich then treated us to a delightful and filling breakfast, with great food and conversation. These hosts go above and beyond to provide a lovely and fulfilling stay, rich with experience and fun. We cannot recommend them enough! P.S. Saw my first shooting star as Rich showed us the incredible view of the Milky Way - definitely a memorable experience.
This trip was the highlight of my summer! The cabin overlooks a meadow and mountainscape, and it had everything I needed (including a gas stove, several ways of lighting the space without electricity, and plenty of jugs of water). Aimee and Rich were the most generous hosts I've ever met; they even lent me their guitar, offered apples and pears from the land, and Rich showed me some really cool fire-building techniques and hung out by the fire. The stunning green mountains and kind people that Vermont is known for are exactly what you'll find here. Just check with me before you reserve the cabin, because I'm planning on going back soon and I get first dibs (okay, just kidding, but I'm definitely going back)! :)
UPDATE: July. 2018: This cabin on a hillside prairie is probably one of the most beautiful places on earth. If you like a ton of space, peace, quiet, stars, wildflowers, fireflies, mountain views and rocking chairs, this is it. I've stayed here twice now and hope to stay many more times!
After you book through AirBnB, you can add these special touches to craft a one-of-a-kind getaway.
Spend your afternoon learning to build your own survival shelter and tools with materials found in nature. Rich lived in the rainforest of Central Africa for over a quarter-century and has taught survival skills to park rangers and film crews. Price includes all materials and supplies.
